Join UDP for our annual reading at the Brooklyn Public Library.
Kate Colby is author of six books, including I Mean (forthcoming from UDP this summer), Unbecoming Behavior (UDP 2008), The Return of the Native (UDP 2011) and Fruitlands (Litmus Press), which won the Norma Farber First Book Award in 2007. . She is a founding board member of the Gloucester Writers Center in Massachusetts and currently lives in Providence, where she was a 2012 fellow of the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts.
Andrew Maxwell is the author of Candor is the Brightest Shield (UDP 2014), Peeping Mot (Apogee 2013), and many chapbooks and pamphlets on his artisanal PRB imprint. He directs the Poetic Research Bureau in Los Angeles, with Joe Mosconi and Ara Shirinyan, and founded the occasional poetry journal The Germ with Macgregor Card in the mid-90s. His poems, epigrams, essays and translations have appeared in various magazines such as Triple Canopy, New American Writing, Fence, The Hat and jubilat. For more than a decade, he has worked variously as a taxonomist, lexicographer, linguist and manager of classification systems at Google.
Simone White was born in 1972 in Middletown, Connecticut, and grew up in Philadelphia. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 1997, she practiced law for seven years. Simone is the author of Unrest (UDP 2013), House Envy of All of the World (Factory School, 2010), the chapbook Dolly (Q Ave Press, curated by Ross Gay, with the paintings of Kim Thomas), and her work also has appeared in The Claudius App, Aufgabe, The Recluse, Callaloo, Ploughshares, Tuesday; An Art Project, the exhibition catalog for the Studio Museum of Harlem's Flow, and Gathering Ground: A Reader Celebrating Cave Canem's First Decade. She lives in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
