at Rule of Thirds
Join us in celebrating Cecilia Vicuña, who will be honored at this year’s Triple Canopy spring benefit on June 3 in Brooklyn. The magazine’s editors and Board of Directors invite you to join the festivities including drinks, a seated dinner, and celebrations of Vicuña’s visionary work.
The evening’s program includes an introduction by Courtney J. Martin, as well as an improvised musical performance by Vicuña and composers Ricardo Gallo and Samita Sinha.
Founded in 2007 and based in New York, Triple Canopy is a nonprofit magazine that works with artists and writers to address the critical issues that define contemporary life.
Spanning sculpture, poetry, performance, and painting, Cecilia Vicuña’s practice addresses ecological destruction, human rights, and cultural homogenization, among other critical issues. Her work confronts the realities of historical and material violence while insisting that change is still possible. As she explains, “My work dwells in the not-yet, the future potential of the unformed, where sound, weaving, and language interact to create new meanings.”
