Yevgeniy Fiks @ MassMoca
May 28, 2011, 5:30 pm
at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art
Yevgeniy Fiks, author of the forthcoming Moscow (UDP 2011) will be participating in the show "The Workers" at MassMoca, which opens on Saturday, May 28th. Please join us for the opening!
The exhibition presents contemporary representations of today's worker while addressing current conditions -- from the perennial search for cheaper production and widespread migration to newly recognize laborers, including volunteers and internet workers. The exhibition also suggests the challenge of forming identifications among members of a fractured, mostly invisible, global workforce -- despite the precarious fate shared by workers across many sectors. Nearly 40 works by 25 artists will be featured, including several by Allan Sekula, a new performance by Santiago Sierra, a documentary by Almudena Carracedo and Robert Bahar, work by Sam Durant, Harun Farocki, Emily Jacir, Tyler Rowland, Laboratorio 060, Yevgeniy Fiks, and Hugo Hopping, among others.
The exhibition will be on view through March 2012, and there are many events and talks scheduled during this time, but WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU THE DAY OF THE OPENING AT MASS MoCA.
We know it can get tricky to get to North Adams, so the curators of the show are coordinating a bus departing from Manhattan on May the 28th at noon and returning to New York on May the 29th at 6:00pm (departing from North Adams 2:00 pm).
If you want to reserve your spot on the bus, and your bed in North Adams, please contact Carla: mail@carlaherreraprats.com
