Hailing from New York, Talibam! Is one of the most potent and fascinating bands in contemporary music. With 18 European tours since '06, and 24 album releases since '05, the 8+ years of interplay between Matt Mottel and Kevin Shea have created one of the most unique and exciting live shows and some of the most powerful recorded documents of any era. Talibam!, founded in 2003 by Kevin Shea and Matt Mottel, have been consistently lauded for their creative output in features from Vice Magazine, The Wire, Pitchfork, The Village Voice, Blow Up, Drowned in Sound, TinyMixTapes and many more. They have over twenty records on a variety of internationally respected vanguard labels; ESP DISK, Bo Weavil, Azul Discografica, Blackest Rainbow, Pendu, Gaffer, Holidays, Wallace and more. Talibam! has been one of the most active underground American bands on the European scene, completing 18 tours since 2006, playing at the Wire Festival (2007), Dot to Dot (2007), Kraak Festival (2008), ZXZW (2008), Night of the Unexpected (2009), Ultra Hang (2010), Dis-Patch (2010), and B-Sides Festival (2011). They have collaborated across genre and medium, performing for artist Peter Coffin at Deitch Projects in 2008, and since 2009 in an ongoing collaboration with acclaimed choreographer Karole Armitage, performing with her at the Kitchen (2009), Torino, Italy (2009), Abrons Arts Center (2010), and Milan and London (October 2011). They seek radical musicians to work with and have found great results working with Cooper-Moore, Jon Irabagon, Alan Wilkinson, Rhys Chatham, Peter Evans, Ed Bear, and Sam Kulik. Drummer Kevin Shea is well-known for his work as a member of Mostly Other People Do the Killing, People, Coptic Light, Storm & Stress, and the Peter Evans Quartet. Keyboardist Matt Mottel is also a member of CSC Funk Band and leads his own group Platinum Vision. Filip Marinovich is the author of ZERO READERSHIP and AND IF YOU DON'T GO CRAZY I'LL MEET YOU HERE TOMORROW (both from Ugly Duckling Presse.) Poems have been published in EOAGH, Esque, Aufgabe, Brooklyn Rail, and on the Poetry Society of America website. Filip is currently at work on a new epic, WOLFMAN LIBRARIAN.
