The Upstairs Play Series First Reading
April 20, 2018, 7:00 pm
at Book Culture

The Upstairs Play Series is hosting the first in a series of play readings presented in the upstairs event space *wink wink* of Book Culture on 112th!!! Friday, April 20th at 7pm. The first play we've chosen to present is Rents by Katherine Burns. Rents is a play about what children owe parents, and what parents owe children. It asks whether previous generations push us forward or hold us back. We'll also be starting off the evening with a shorter dramatic reading of an Ugly Duckling Presse chapbook, Catcall by Holly Melgard. Catcall is a poem in which a voice catcalls a guy passing by in a public place. I discovered this gem one day browsing our small press section, so here we are! We're very, very excited and we hope you can make it out. For more about the play, the playwright, director, and important updates, follow us at The Upstairs Play Series Facebook page. Also, here's the event page on the book culture website. Playwright: Katherine Burns Director: Zoe Clayton Producers: Emily Featherman and Madeline Pages
