Please join us for a work-in-progress performance of my new piece Emilia Galotti’s Colouring Book of Feelings, with sculptures and projections by Simone Kearney, costumes by Kat Addis, and music by r. karim. Performed by Corina Copp, Sophia Le Fraga, Sophie Seita, Jocelyn Spaar, and Bridget Talone. Followed by a brief conversation with the audience. We would love your feedback as we continue to develop the full version of the piece. Emilia Galotti’s Colouring Book of Feelings is the third piece in Sophie Seita’s ongoing queer-feminist project that re-writes and responds to various Enlightenment source materials in the form of collaborative multi-media performances, including poetic text and dialogue, choreography, sculptural objects, installation, and projections. The piece stages imaginary tête-a-têtes with Goethe’s Theory of Colours, Adam Smith’s Theory of Moral Sentiments, Lessing’s Emilia Galotti, Olympe de Gouges’s On the Necessity of Divorce, Christian Gellert’s The Tender Sisters, and the 17th-century précieuses.
