[Flushing, NY]

CUNY Chapbook Festival
March 26, 2020, 4:00 pm
at Queen's College Library

The chapbook, a modest publication, has had an impressive longevity dating back to early printing press publications to today’s editions, whether stapled photocopied, hand-lettered on hand-made paper, or digital. The CUNY Chapbook Festival celebrates this unique facet of the literary world.

We’re kicking off the festival with a demonstration of chapbook assembly in the library’s own Makerspace, and, after a short welcoming reception thrown by Chief Librarian Kristin Hart and Prof. Kimiko Hahn, we’ll be treated to a keynote by Matvei Yakelevich, poet, translator and the executive director of Ugly Duckling Presse, who will speak on “The Chapbook Then and Now.”

· 4:00-5:30 — Makerspace chapbook demonstration
· 6:00 — Welcome from Chief Librarian Kristin Hart and Prof. Kimiko Hahn
· 6:15-7:00 — “Chapbooks Then and Now,” keynote by Matvei Yankelevich
