Dmitri Prigov's Soviet Texts: A Bilingual Bacchanal with Globus Books

A celebration of Dmitri Prigov‘s work, and especially Soviet Texts (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2020), with translators Simon Schuchat and Ainsley Morse, and editor Matvei Yankelevich. In addition, Ilya Kukulin, Mark Lipovetsky, and Catherine Ciepiela—scholars who have written on Prigov’s work—will join the conversation by reading and commenting on some of their favorite Prigov poems. Readings will be presented in Russian and English, to be followed by a Q&A.

The event will be held on Zoom on March 3, 2021 at 2 pm EDT (NY)/11:00 am PDT (SF). This program is produced and hosted by Zarina Zabrisky, the author of three short story collections and a novel “We Monsters” (Numina Press). Zabrisky runs literary and cultural programs at Globus Books, an independent bookstore serving San Francisco since 1971 that offers a wide-ranging stock of books on all things Russia.
