Jennifer Hayashida is a writer and translator. Her work has been published and exhibited in the U.S. and abroad, including multiple book-length translations of contemporary Swedish poetry and screenings at venues including the Centre Pompidou, the National Gallery of Art, and the Flaherty Film Seminar. She is the recipient of awards from, among others, PEN, NYFA, LMCC, the Jerome Foundation, and the MacDowell Colony. She is a Distinguished Lecturer at Hunter College, CUNY, where she directs the Asian American Studies Program. Currently, she has been focusing on literature concerning social and linguistic constructions of race, gender, and family.Evenings with artists, writers, musicians, and innovative makers instigated by Elise Gardella on the third Sunday of the month since October 2012. For more information on Jennifer Hayashida and the event, click here.
