Caitlin Keogh at Leslie Fritz
Caitlin Keogh: Modes | Feb. 24 – Mar. 30 | @ Leslie Fritz
Caitlin Keogh’s first solo exhibition in New York will be at Leslie Fritz (formerly Renwick) – a new space at 44 Hester Street.
For this exhibition Keogh will show a new grouping of works from her Bargello series. The Bargello series takes its name from a specific kind of needlepoint design, which the artist has utilized as a starting point for her paintings. The works on view are delicately rendered with all-over patterns in thin veils of acrylic paint. They simultaneously recall historical painting tenets such as pattern and decoration and op as well as commercially produced textiles, DIY crafting techniques, fashion and industrial design.
*Caitlin Keogh’s work appears on the cover of Sara Wintz’s forthcoming UDP book, Walking Across A Field We Are Focused On At This Time Now.* Keogh graduated from Bard with an MFA in 2011. She received her BFA from Cooper Union in 2006. Additionally, she studied at the Ecole Nationale Superieure Des Beaux-Arts De Paris in 2004. Recent museum exhibitions include a solo presentation at MoMA PS1, New York, and group presentations at Mu.Zee, Ostende, Belgium, as well as Kunsthalle Zurich, Switzerland. She has exhibited widely in group exhibitions including MOT International, Brussels, Belgium; Renwick, New York; White Columns, New York; 179 Canal, New York; and Tiny Creatures, Los Angeles, California.
