[UDP:D] POETRY & FICTION: John High, Andrea Libin, Chris Tysh, George Tysh & TeleVision Faerie Tale
John High’s books include you are everything you are not (Talisman, 2013); recent poems have appeared in Brooklyn Rail, Poems by Sunday, Poetry Northwest, and New American Writing. He teaches in the MFA program at LIU, Brooklyn.
Andrea Clark Libin’s prose has appeared in Talisman, Poetry Northwest, Chameleon, Downtown Brooklyn, Furious Fictions, Blue Leaf Press, and Zen Monster. A graduate of Columbia’s MFA fiction program, she lives in Brooklyn, where she is at work finishing a novel.
Chris Tysh’s latest projects are poetic transcreations of French novels by Samuel Beckett — Molloy, The Flip Side (BlazeVOX) — and Jean Genet — Our Lady of the Flowers, Echoic (Les Figues Press). Her play, Night Scales: A Fable for Klara K (United Artists Books), was directed by Aku Kadogo at Wayne State University’s Studio Theater in 2010.
George Tysh’s most recent collection is The Imperfect (United Artists Books). From 1980 to 1991, he coordinated LINES: New Writing at the Detroit Institute of Arts, and now curates the reading series Evidence: New Writing in the Metro. He teaches film studies and a poetry workshop at the College for Creative Studies.
TeleVision Faerie Tale [Anita Schmaltz] transforms avant-garde literary clatter into passion ballads with voice, guitar and noise. TVFT plays as a Pre-Raphaelite painting using word and sound, dark ballads born along the river from opposing sides of the heart and mind.
