Mary Walling Blackburn is an artist, writer, and the founder of The Anhoek School. In her “2 of 24 Psychoanalytic Acts: Therapy for The End,” Sarah Workneh and Abraham Adams perform in the roles of psychotherapist and patient as they listen over headphones to a prerecorded psychotherapy session and repeat the words in real time as they hear them.
A companion broadside, “Checklist [apocolyptic ecology],” will be released from UDP.
The piece will be followed by Cecilia Vicuña and longtime collaborator Rosa Alcalá. Vicuña is an poet, artist, political activist and founding member of Artists for Democracy who has exhibited and published widely in Europe, Latin American, and the US for several decades. Her book Spit Temple was released by Ugly Duckling Presse this Fall.
