Liberating Practice: Writing Into The Open with Rachel Levitsky6 Thursdays, October 6-November 10, 6:00-8:30pm Following Leslie Scalapino's notion that the artist or writer must move away from the "separation of one from outside," participants will be directed through a series of exercises designed to "puncture" and expand their current practice. The class will activate readings by great contemporary thinkers and poets like Giorgio Agamben and Cecilia Vicuña as avenues toward rich and holistic writing for the fast moving, ambiguous times in which we live. Participants will be guided toward constructing a short serial manuscript out of the work written in class. Rachel Levitsky is the author of Under the Sun (2003), NEIGHBOR (2009) and the forthcoming The Story of My Accident is Ours (2011). She is also founder and member of the Belladonna* Collaborative, a hub of feminist avant-garde Poetic action. All programs take place at Poets House, 10 River Terrace (at Murray St.) in Lower Manhattan, unless otherwise noted. For more information, call (212) 431-7920 or visit www.poetshouse.org.
