Lit Mag Night: 6x6, harlequin creature, & Agriculture Reader
May 9, 2012, 7:00 pm
at Housing Works Bookstore
Housing Works Bookstore & Cafe invites you to join three of its favorite lit mags, all carefully curated and beautifully produced — harlequin creature, the Agriculture Reader and Ugly Duckling Presse‘s 6×6 — for a reading and live music by Relatives and Isaac Gillespie. Limited amount of complimentary refreshments followed by cash bar.
Ugly Duckling Presse is a nonprofit art and publishing organization whose mission is to produce artisanal and trade editions of new poetry, translation, experimental nonfiction, performance texts, and books by artists. 6×6 is the literary magazine of UDP. Every issue contains six poets who are each given six pages to present their work; projects that specifically explore the format are encouraged. 6×6 publishes poets of all ages from across the U.S. and abroad, and aims to include a poet in translation in every issue.
harlequin creature is a literary journal, handmade. each copy is individually hand typed on a typewriter, letter pressed, and hand bound. Contributors featured tonight will be Lecco Morris, Hannah Webster, and Stella Wilde.
The Agriculture Reader is an arts annual. It was founded in 2006 by Jeremy Schmall who edits it with Justin Taylor. It is published by the versatile Amy Mees and Mark Wagner of X-ing Books. Contributors Yelena Akhtiorskaya and Karl Larocca will read.
The organizers request attendees to bring a book to donate to Housing Works in lieu of admission. A portion of journal sales will also go to Housing Works.
