In Lucy Ives and UDP author Stacy Szymaszek’s new books, moments collapse under the pressure of their multi-directional abundance, and through this collapse unfold into deeper mysteries, secret networks, and radiant strangeness.

We hope you can join us at 7:00PM for a reception before the event. The reading will begin at 8:00PM. Masks will be optional while enjoying drinks and company during the reception but will be required once the reading begins.

Masks are required at all Poetry Project events unless otherwise specifically noted. While we will have masks available we encourage you to come with a mask for the reading. We also encourage all event attendees to take a rapid test the day of the event before heading to the church.

This in-person event will also be livestreamed via The Poetry Project’s YouTube. Livestream captions will be available via a StreamText link or the CC button on YouTube’s player.

Stacy Szymaszek is the author of seven full-length books, most recently The Pasolini Book (2022) and Famous Hermits (2023). Her chapbook Three Novenas was published in 2022 by auric books, and The Hero Auden / ’80s Pink was published by Ugly Duckling Presse in 2017. She was the director of The Poetry Project from 2007–2018. Since then, Szymaszek was the Hugo Visiting Writer at the University of Montana – Missoula 2018-19, Poet-in-Resident at Brown University, Visiting Poet for the Fire Island Artist Residency – and the recipient of a 2019 Foundation for Contemporary Arts grant in poetry. She currently lives and works in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Lucy Ives is the author of the hybrid novel Loudermilk: Or, the Real Poet; Or, the Origin of the World and editor of The Saddest Thing Is That I Have Had to Use Words: A Madeline Gins Reader. She writes regularly on contemporary art and literature for Art in America and frieze, among other publications. Her first collection of short stories, Cosmogony, is forthcoming from Soft Skull Press in March, 2021.
