Poetry of Resistance: Discussion and readings by Galina Rymbu and Dmitry Golynko
November 29, 2018, 6:00 pm
at NYU Global Liberal Studies

Poetry of Resistance: Youth Social Activism in Russia Today What can Americans learn from Russian resistance to fascism? In the face of Putin’s Russia where nationalist conservative ideology has made far greater headway then in Trump’s US, today’s Russia harbors a rich informal culture of youth resistance and activism. New Russian art and literature is acutely, courageously, and creatively political. The poet and activist Galina Rymbu, who has emerged as the most talented and intelligent creative voice of young Russian feminism, will speak about feminist and Antifa political strategies. The poet and critic Dmitry Golynko will speak about new Russian political art. Both will share their critically acclaimed work in the original and English translation. Moderated by LS Professor Eugene Ostashevsky. Co-sponsored by Critical Creative Production; Writing; Art, Text, Media; & Global Cultures.
