Excerpt

Blind looks
into a theatre fashioned
after the right hand of tomorrow.

Apple trees in February
mom their heads

sweat suited shoulders. White
velour with one stripe red.

If you square time
what kind of shoe will
she wear when she vacuums?

What will her mornings look like,
and at what point in the day
will she have her first cigarette?

I came here to ask Abraham
Lincoln if he has ever touched
the body of a naked boy.

But all he told me
(his hands in his pockets) was
two left feet can’t possibly
make a right.
