A companion volume to Riggs’s books 28 Telegrams, 43 Post-Its and 38 Instant Messages, 60 Textos continues the poet’s investigation into the ways affect and technology co-exist. “Texto” is French for “text message,” and these stark, uncanny, often funny poems fleetingly and memorably transform the cell-phone screen into a book.
About the Author
Sarah Riggs is a writer, artist, filmmaker and translator. Her poetry books have been published by 1913 Press, Burning Deck, Reality Street, Chax, Editions de l’attente, Le Bleu du Ciel, and Ugly Duckling Presse (60 Textos). Her paintings appear in Sugar Factory by Emily Wallis Hughes (Spuyten Duyvil). Her translation of Etel Adnan’s Time will be published in 2019 by Nightboat. Her film work includes The Tangier 8, Six Lives, and ongoing work with New York dancer-choreographers including Daria Faïn, Emily Johnson, and Douglas Dunn. She has taught at Columbia, NYU (Paris), and Pratt. With Mirene Arsanios, she co-edits the web publication of “Footprint Zero,” a project of New York and Morocco-based artists responding to the environmental crisis, for the nonprofit Tamaas.
