Primoz Cucnik, poet, translator and critic, was born in Ljubljana in 1971, and studied philosophy and sociology of culture at the University of Ljubljana. His poems have appeared in a number of literary magazines in Slovenia and abroad. His first collection of poetry, Two Winters, was published in 1999 and received Best First Collection Award. He translates from Polish and is co-editor of the literary magazine Literature. His second book is Rhythm in Hands (2002).

Ana Pepelnik lives in Ljubljana. She studied Comparative Literature and Theory of Literature at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana. She works as a presenter for the independent radio station Radio Študent and takes part in music-poetry performances. Her poems have been published in the journals of Literatura and Dialogi. Her first book of poetry Ena od variant kako ravnati s skrivnostjo (One Way to Treat a Secret) was published by LUD Literatura in the Prišleki series; her second book, Utrip oranžnih lu?i na semaforjih came out in spring 2009. Her translations of poetry into Slovene include the following: Elizabeth Bishop, James M. Schuyler, Matthew Zapruder (American Linden; Šerpa 2008), Joshua Beckman, Noelle Kocot, Matthew Rohrer, but she also translates into English.

Gregor Podlogar, born in Ljubljana in 1974, graduated in philosophy from the University of Ljubljana. He has published his poems in various literary magazines in Slovenia and abroad. Aleph Press published his first two collections of poetry, Naselitve (States, 1997) and Vrtoglavica zanosa (Joy in Vertigo, 2002). In co-authorship with the poet Primož ?u?nik and Žiga Kariž, a painter, an experimental book on New York City entitled Oda na manhatenski aveniji (Ode on Manhattan Avenue, 2003) came out with Sherpa Press. His latest book, Milijon sekund bliže (A Million Seconds Closer, 2006) was published by Literatura Press. A selection of his work was published in Six Slovenian Poets (Arc Publication, 2006). He works for national radio Radio Slovenija, translates contemporary American poetry (Hawkey, Solomon, Killebrew, A. Berrigan among others), edits the Slovenian side of poetry web-site lyrikline and drinks green tea in Ljubljana.

Tomaž Šalamun was born in 1941 in Zagreb, Croatia, and raised in Koper, Slovenia. He has published thirty collections of poetry in his home country and has received many prizes and fellowships at home and in the U.S., including a Fulbright and Pushcart Prize. Poker is Salamun’s first book of poetry, published in 1966 in Slovenia, and made available for the first time by UDP in 2003, vibrantly translated by award winning American poet Joshua Beckman, in collaboration with the author. Poker was a finalist for the PEN American prize for poetry in translation.

Tone Skrjanec was born in Ljubljana in 1953 and graduated in sociology from the University of Ljubljana. He had worked as a teacher and journalist before becoming program and poetry events co-ordinator at the France Preaeren Cultural Centre in Ljubljana in 1990. Apart from writing poetry, Tone Skrjanec also translates poems and novels from English, Croatian and Serbian (Goran I. Jankovic, Tatjana Gromaca, and Delimir Resicki for example), reserving special attention for modern American literature (Paul Bowles, William S. Burroughs, Charles Bukowski, Gary Snyder, Frank O’Hara and Timothy Liu).
