Susan Bernofsky has translated seventeen books, including False Friends by Uljana Wolf, and six by Robert Walser as well as novels by Jenny Erpenbeck, Yoko Tawada, Hermann Hesse, and others. She received the 2006 Helen and Kurt Wolff Translation Prize as well as awards and fellowships from the NEH, NEA, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the Lannan Foundation. She is currently serving as Chair of the PEN Translation Committee and teaching in the MFA Program at the Columbia University School of the Arts.
Richard Sieburth’s translations include Guillevic's Geometries, Friedrich Holderlin’s Hymns and Fragments, Walter Benjamin’s Moscow Diary, Nerval’s Selected Writings, Henri Michaux’s Emergences/Resurgences, Michel Leiris’ Nights as Day, Days as Night, and Gershom Sholem’s poetry. His English edition of the Nerval won the 2000 PEN/Book-of-the-Month-Club Translation Prize. His translation of Maurice Scève’s Délie was a finalist for the PEN Translation Prize and the Weidenfeld Prize. He is most recently the translator of Gérard de Nerval's The Salt Smugglers (Archipelago Books, 2009).
